Unlike 501(c)(3) charitable organizations, 501(c)(4) social welfare organizations are permitted to engage in lobbying and direct legislative advocacy that furthers their social welfare mission. This classification allows PROTECT to engage directly in policy discussions and legislative advocacy on behalf of firefighters and first responders.

  • Funding and supporting research into toxic exposure, occupational cancer, and personalized medicine for first responders
  • Elevating the lived experiences of those affected by service-related health conditions
  • Engaging policymakers on evidence-based legislation to protect first responder health
  • Connecting first responders with clinician-directed, evidence-based care pathways
